Hi, I'm Caitey Mac
During maternity leave with my first baby two years ago I reignited my passion for creativity by experimenting with resin. I combined my love for the ocean, art, and sustainability into one and found my calling in up-cycling surfboards and giving them a new lease on life.
My work extends to resin homewares and ethically sourced shell frames. I am now a mother of two little grommets and work from my home based studio in Perth, Western Australia.
I remember my first time seeing a resin artwork being made on a Youtube video, I was instantly in awe of how they made this piece look so much like the ocean. I thought to myself, I want to try that !
I promptly fell into the Youtube learning portal and have never looked back.
I experimented with all types of liquid mediums but kept coming back to resin- the flow and unpredictability of it reminds me so much of the ocean waves, how anything in nature is rarely symmetrical or perfect yet still so beautiful.
One day I had the bright idea to up-cycle an old surfboard and give it a fresh new look with some resin art. I love the idea of how the board tells a story and that it is something that can be cherished long after its days of catching waves.
I find so much joy in bringing these pieces to life and each piece is unique, made with love and intention.
